Newson Academy is as independent speech, drama and musical theatre school based in Ripley and New Haw.


Founded in 2007, the school offers training in the performing arts to children and young people aged 5 to 18.


With professional training in acting, music and musical theatre where they can develop as performers and artists taught by industry professionals.


At Newson Academy our students acquire skills in all areas of the performing arts which can help not only pursue careers in the arts industry, and also develop essential life skills to enable them to grow in confidence and self-esteem.


We are passionate about creating a fun environment for students to learn to gain confidence through the arts. Students perform – shows, show cases, local speech & drama festivals.


Pupils have gained places at prestigious performing arts schools and colleges such as Arts Ed, Chiswick, Sylvia Young Theatre school, The Royal School Hampshire, Italia Conti London, BA Hons Acting course, Notre Dame Senior School Cobham and Reeds School Cobham. Some work as professional actors in Commercials, Film and TV as well as the West End!


Festival Results 2019:

Richmond Surrey - Gold Medal 1st place Year 4 Acting

Year 4 Poetry 84 High Merit

Woking Speech & Drama Year 2 Poetry 2nd place.


HOT NEWS SEPTEMBER 2020!

Senior pupil Anna is commencing GSA Guildford School of Acting Foundation course.


Senior pupil Michael is commending Godalming college A level performing arts and physiology plus GSA Saturday School, having achieved LAMDA Grade 5 Distinction in both solo Acting and Devising.


Year 11 senior pupil Seb is attending Italia Conti having auditioned for the Teen Professional course Fridays, plus classes Thursdays and Saturdays alongside his Year 11 studies.
